Azerbaijan presented at Los Angeles Times Travel Show

Azerbaijan’s tourism potential was presented at the Los Angeles Times Travel Show held on January 17-18 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Launched in 1998 and attended by over 20,000 people every year, the Show is the biggest travel event in Los Angeles and one of the largest travel shows in the United States. It is the third year that Azerbaijan is represented with a booth at the world-famous Show.

Sponsored and organized by the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles, the Azerbaijan booth, titled “Azerbaijan: Land of Legendary Hospitality,” offered the attendees substantial information about Azerbaijan, its history, culture, current development as well as tourism potential. Various video clips showcasing Azerbaijan’s natural beauties, landscapes, unique history, cultural diversity and architecture were demonstrated in the booth. Joining the Show, three Azerbaijani tourism companies, Wonders of Azerbaijan, Spektr and SkyTravel, offered diverse travel packages tailored for American tourists.

The banner, titled ”Karabakh – Crown Jewel of Azerbaijan”, which was also featured in the booth, attracted much attention of the Show attendees. Showcasing picturesque nature of Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region, the banner also features Karabakh’s history, its historic Azerbaijani monuments, such as the Shusha Walls, Govharagha Mosque, Ganjasar Albanian Monastery, as well as the Karabakh carpets, Mugham music school and the Karabakh horse. A booklet, which includes information on all these features of Karabakh, and which was published by the Consulate General, was distributed in the booth. The brochure also highlights the current situation in Karabakh, which has been under illegal military occupation by Armenia since over 20 years. Referring to a travel warning by the U.S. State Department, the brochure cautions Americans to avoid any travel to this region.

It should be noted that despite various attempts by the Armenian lobby in California to prevent Azerbaijan’s participation at the Show, these attempts have utterly failed.

The Azerbaijan booth was received by all Show attendees with much interest.
