The launch of the “Academia and Innovation Mentorship Projects” (AIM Projects) initiative was held in San Francisco, USA.

According to the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles, a meeting was organized at the “Mind the Bridge” innovation center to mark the launch of the initiative and present its website.

The event brought together Azerbaijani scholars, researchers, PhD candidates working in various academic institutions across California, especially in Silicon Valley, as well as professionals employed at high-tech companies, and students studying at Stanford and UC Berkeley.

The head of the initiative, Professor Ayhan Yusifov of Niagara University, briefed the participants about the concept and objectives of the initiative and spoke about future activities. Following this, the initiative’s executive secretary, Shahla Shirinli, presented the website and provided information about the proposed mentorship programs, nearly 20 individuals who have already voluntarily registered as mentors, and the seminars to be organized within the next two months.

Expressions of gratitude were conveyed to the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles for supporting the implementation of the initiative and organizing the event. Consul General Vugar Gurbanov wished success to the initiators and congratulated the guests on the occasion of September 20 – State Sovereignty Day.

Member of the Milli Majlis (Parliament of Azerbaijan) and member of the Azerbaijan-US Inter-Parliamentary Working Group, Gaya Mammadov, also conveyed his congratulations on the launch of the initiative, noted the importance of the event, and shared his views.

The purpose of the “AIM Projects” initiative is to connect Azerbaijanis working in the fields of science and innovation in the United States with relevant partners, scholars, experts, and other stakeholders in Azerbaijan, and to provide an accessible platform offering mentorship programs.

The “AIM Projects” initiative was established as a logical continuation of the “Academia and Innovation Forum” held at UC Berkeley on June 26–27, 2025.
